LONG-HAIRED
FRIENDS OF JESUS
Virgil T Ishee, Uncle Tom Fuss and Toby Fuss make up the rocking harmonies of the Long Hair Friends of Jesus, one of the most requested groups in the area.

They got together almost 25 years ago when Virgil auditioned for singer for an upcoming gig. Tom and Toby heard Virgil sing House of The Rising Sun and that
interview turned into a 12 hour jam session. They knew they had something special together.

Virgil T is a Mississippi man who got his start singing in church when he was a kid. Virgil was the original founder of the Stepchild Band in Pensacola where they won many Battle of the Bands along the Redneck Riviera. Singing and playing an awesome harmonica, Virgil moved to Tennessee in '95 and formed the Highway 41 Blues Band touring across the South. They opened for the Dereck Trucks Band at the Bessie Smith Strut and opened for Kenny Wayne Shepherd in front of 15,000 bikers at the Cherokee Rally. Virgil has also shared the stage with the late blues rock legend, Lonnie Mack.

Tom Fuss, lead guitar picker began his music career in Long Island with the Crossfire band, touring the NY area. Tom’s love for music continues and is also a master guitar builder as well as a guitar instructor.

Tom’s son, Toby, also hails from Long Island where he learned to play the drums when he was three. His mom gave him a spoon and some pots and pans and Toby took it to the limit. He played
in the Wild Child Band, an 80s rock group touring the New York area.

When Virgil, Tom and Toby first got together they were a full rock band. When they lost their bass players, Toby learned to play the guitar and still plays drums on special occasions. They now play restaurants, clubs and private parties with two guitars and a harmonica, and the best harmonies in middle Tennessee.
